Course Information
Course Description

This course is an instructor led, hands-on course in which the student uses an electronic spreadsheet to plan, create, manipulate, and print worksheets. The software used in this course is Microsoft EXCEL 2016. Topics include entering and editing data, formatting a worksheet, use of formulas and common functions, charts, advanced printing, and linking worksheets. This course meets Specialist MOS certification requirements.

Student Learning Objectives

The student will be able to open, navigate, and create basic worksheets.

The student will be able to edit and format a worksheet including the addition of charts.

The student will be able to enter formulas and functions to analyze data within worksheets

The student will be able to research for data within Excel and incorporate into a worksheet.

The student will be able to manage workbooks including the use of templates, hyperlinks, and printing.

Prerequisites

Keyboarding Skill and recommended Microsoft Office Applications OFAD1150 or INFS 1010.

This course will utilize a variety of learning methods. Lecture, instructor-led chapter tutorials, lab assignments, written assignments, written tests, hands-on lab tests, and projects will be utilized.

Testing Procedure / Policy

Assignments will be submitted into online dropboxes. Assessments will be completed through projects. Some of the assessments may be completed in SNAP.

Participation / Attendance Policy

In online courses, attendance is limited to the actual submission of assignments not simply logging on to the course.

Benchmark Excel 2016 Level 1

Course Objectives

 

·         Create and edit spreadsheets of varying complexity

·         Format cells, columns, and rows as well as entire workbooks in a uniform, attractive style

·         Analyze numerical data and project outcomes to make informed decisions

·         Plan, research, create, revise and publish worksheets and workbooks to meet specific communication needs

·         Given a workplace scenario requiring a numbers-based solution, assess the information requirements and then prepare the materials that achieve the goal efficiently and effectively
