Autism in the Classroom

Greetings! The Division of Student Affairs: Retention & Student Success Team is happy to announce that Kelly Luo will be on Southwest Community College on April 23, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. in Farris ABC room. She looks forward to the promotion of awareness between students, faculty, and staff on the appropriateness of classroom accommodations and knowledge of students with autism. Kelly is an educational consultant with Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD).

Her work focuses on training educators, administrators, and service providers throughout the state of Tennessee on a variety of topics including evidence-based teaching strategies, behavior management, transition planning, and pre-vocational training. She also serves as co-director of TRIAD’s Community Engagement program, the Inclusion Network of Nashville, which works with community organizations to promote inclusion and accessibility.

Kelly earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Wake Forest University and her Master’s degree in Special Education from Vanderbilt University.
