Our Moral Imperative to Lead for Equity and Inclusive Excellence

According to the American Association of Colleges and Universities, “at all levels of US education, there are entrenched practices that reinforce inequities— and that lead to vastly different outcomes for low-income students and students of color”. As Southwest Tennessee Community College is a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) of higher learning,  it is our moral imperative to provide leadership that begins to significantly erase equity gaps in academic and career achievement.  In this session, we will explore ways in which  an authentic commitment to a culture of academic excellence and caring can empower Southwest to lead effectively through a lens of equity and inclusive excellence whereby students can achieve despite the challenges they face throughout their college experience.
